The heart of the village
Petros and the Cross Keys is situated right at the heart of the village of Nafferton just off the A614 between Bridlington and Driffield.
Nafferton is one of the largest villages in East Yorkshire and nestles at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. The village is a designated conservation area having several historical features. The oldest of these being All Saints' Church, parts of which date from the 11th century.
The mere is the focal point of Nafferton and is a large expanse of water fed by natural springs. The mere was formerly a mill pond, which supplied water power to several water mills situated on its south east bank.
Today Nafferton is a thriving village community with many amenities. There are many walking and cycle routes offering very picturesque scenery, so an ideal base for walkers and cyclists. For more details please visit our village website.
The Way of the Roses
Petros and the Cross Keys Nafferton is right on the route of the Way of the Roses, a fantastic coast to coast cycle route from Morecambe to Bridlington. Our location makes us an ideal stopping point for you to enjoy some food and drink without having to stray from the route! The Way of the Roses provides cyclists of any ability with the opportunity to explore different parts of this beautiful area of the country. The whole route is 170 miles long and consists of traffic-free paths, on-road cycle lanes, country lanes and quieter roads, taking in historic sites and stunning scenery, so there is something for everyone and all abilities.
Capital of the Wolds
Driffield market town is 2 miles from Petros and the Cross Keys and is known in the area as the Capital of the Wolds. Driffield Canal and its three becks or streams provide some beautiful walks and as well as the regular markets there are interesting shops and antique auctions.
Close by is Burton Agnes Hall which is 4.5 miles from Nafferton. Burton Agnes is an Elizabethan stately home which has been in the same family for more than four hundred years. The Hall houses many treasues dating from when it was built to the present day and there are beautiful gardens to explore in the Summer. Burton Agnes is also home to many events throughout the year, including a Summer jazz & blues festival and Christmas festivities.

9 miles from the pub is the seaside resort of Bridlington with its beautiful beaches, fishing harbour, award-winning promenades and gardens providing plenty of all weather activities.
While the market town of Beverley is 16 miles from Petros and the Cross Keys and is noted for its 13th century minster, its racecourse and its shopping!
